Communion Service

What's it for?

This is a remembrance service, where we remember Christ's sacrifice for his people

Who goes?

The Bible makes it clear that this is a service for Christ's people. As a result, everyone who trusts Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and has an ongoing personal relationship with him is welcome to take part in the service.

At the same time, anyone who does not feel able to take part is more than welcome to attend and observe.

What happens?

This is a very contemplative time, and is usually opened with a few thoughts taken from a passage of the Bible aimed at leading worship, praise, and thanksgiving to Jesus the sacrificial Saviour.

Bread is brought round to where people are sitting, and each takes a small amount and eats it in remembrance of Christ's body.

Wine is brought round in small individual glasses and everone drinks at the same time, signifying a united remembrance of the shedding of Christ's blood for the forgiveness of sins.

The bread and wine are taken as symbols, and the whole service is taken as an act of remembrance.

For our doctrinal interpretation of communion, see the Lord's Supper on the Beliefs link on the left.

How do I know when to sit & stand?!

These meetings are clearly led - you won't go wrong!

When is it?

Part of the morning service on the 1st Sunday of every month, and in the evening service on the 3rd Sunday of every month.
