Dorothy Sim

Dorothy Sim

Dorothy Sim (nee Evans) was at Hoylake Evangelical Church when we were first constituted in 1961.

She sailed to the Far East in around 1966/7 to work in Borneo with the BEM Missionary Society. She spent much time teaching near the town of Miri in Farnwah. Dorothy met Peter Sim, an Asiatic who was brought up in Australia.

Whilst in Britain in 1980 on furlough, the Farnwah government adopted a policy of rescinding the visas of foreigners. Peter could have returned to the country but not Dorothy. They then settled in Melbourned, Australia where Peter lectured at university and worked for Telecom.

Dorothy worked part time for a local Christian society, taught at a state school, and also among Christians.

They are currently members of a fellowship in Melbourne.
