Thailand has a population of just over 60 million, 10 million of whom live in the capital city of Bangkok. (By comparison, the UK has a population of just less than 60 million, and London has a population of around 11 million. Thailand is just over twice the size of the UK.)
80% of the population are Thai, 10% Chinese, and the remaining 10% a mix of different groups. Interestingly, the 10% Chinese population control 85% of the economy.
The country is wracked by corruption at every level, and there is a thriving drugs trade.
