Page 4 of 5 It's about Him, not us
Being a Christian isn't about what we want, it's about what God wants for us.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live selfcontrolled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good (Titus chapter 2)
Christians are not their own. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. (Ephesians chapter 1)
Everything we have, think, say, do, want; everywhere we go; everything we become: it's all His, for Him, and only for Him.
Have you accepted that you're a sinner, and crave forgiveness to take away the burden of guilt you feel towards a holy God?
Have you accepted God's free gift of salvation in Jesus as the only way to have your sin dealt with, and actually asked Him to forgive you?
Have you accepted Jesus as Lord over every aspect of your life from here in?
That is the basis of a true relationship with God on his terms.
If you have accepted these 3 things it's because God has worked in your life: You're not more able or special than anyone else. God has shown you His grace.
Ephesians 2: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
