What's it for?
A place where children can worship and learn through teaching, singing, quizzes, and prayer.
Who goes?
Currently there are around 10-20 children atteding (the numbers do vary week to week). Some of the children are brought by their parents attending the main service, but there are also children who have no other connection with Hoylake Evangelical. All are equally welcome!
The age range is from 4 to 11. (Children younger than 4 are catered for in the creche, while those in secondary school go to Bible Class)
What happens?
We begin with a time of worship when we sing some choruses accompanied by the guitar, and then celebrate any birthdays which have taken place since the previous Sunday (being careful not to miss any of the teachers' birthdays!).
We then take a nominal collection which goes towards supporting Tear Fund helping less cared-for children.
After a short prayer, everyone splits up into smaller classes.
We hold Sunday School because children need to be taught the fundamental pricinples of Christian teaching and belief. The Sunday School lessons are planned and prepared using "Go Teach" material so that the children can have an enjoyable time in a situation suited to their age group. Unless the church service is a family service, the children would not always understand the content so this is where Sunday School fits in, allowing the children to worship and be taught in a conducive learning atmosphere.
When is it?
All children take their seats downstairs in the church for the Sunday morning service at 10:30. The Sunday School teachers then lead them out usually during the singing of the second hymn.
