What's it for?
This is a time of worship for the whole family
Who goes?
All sorts of people from all kinds of backgrounds, with ages ranges from infant to senior citizen. We would particularly recommend this meeting to anyone looking for an introduction to Hoylake Evangelical Church.
What happens?
At 10:30, the service starts with general church notices of events and meetings, before the first hymn.
All songs are sung from an overhead projector, but feel free to ask at the door if you'd rather sing from a song book - there are plenty available.
There is then usually a short talk for the children and young people (who usually sit near the front). After this, the children and young people leave the service halfway through the second hymn moving off into classes according to school age.
Downstairs in the main service, there will usually then follow a Bible reading, prayer, third hymn, and then sermon. The style is always expository (that is, teaching about living the Christian life by explaining the meaning of the Bible passage). After a closing hymn, coffee & tea are served and everyone is welcome to stay and chat.
Meanwhile, the children will be spending time singing choruses, usually followed by a fun quiz and then splitting into smaller groups to learn a little from the Bible.
Please note that there is a creche available for those too young for the Sunday School - just ask at the door on your way in.
How do I know when to sit & stand?!
It really doesn't matter. There are no hard and fast rules, no set services, and no fixed order of service.
The outline above is fairly typical, but there are no rigid rules.
If you're ever in doubt, just copy the people around you!
When is it?
10:30 every Sunday morning. This is our most popular service so you're advised to get there a few minutes early if you can.
Who should I contact for more information?
You'll find all the information you need on the contacts page.
